Weekly Honors

Each week during the season, our staff searches the game stories to come up with a Rookie-of-the-Week, 
an Offensive Player-of-the-Week, a Defensive Player-of-the-Week, and members of the Honor Roll.
We have been able to see a number of games and read the game stories before meeting to choose these honors. 

Congratulations to the athletes and their programs!

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kristen Giovanniello, Dartmouth

Giovanniello anchored the defense this past weekend at the Ivy Tournament, making 16 saves and allowing only 12 goals in the two games. She added four ground balls and caused two turnovers as the Big Green posted an average of six goals allowed to two top-12 teams.


Offensive Player of the Week: Marlee Paton, Loyola

Paton helped the Greyhounds to their second consecutive Big East Championship, scoring at least a hat trick in both games while adding five grouns balls and four caused turnovers between the two games. She ended with seven goals and three assists; in the title game she scored three goals in a critical 6-0 run in the second half to give the Greyhounds extra room.


Rookie of the Week: Shannon Gilroy, Florida

Gilroy led the Gators to their first-ever ALC title, defeating Ohio State in the semifinals before upsetting Northwestern in the final. In the semifinal win over the Buckeyes, Gilroy
had three ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover in the 5-4 victory. On Saturday, the rookie shoved in seven goals and helped the Gators control the draw circle as Florida won 18 of the 23 draws in the contest.

DIVISION II - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Tina Fey, Dowling

Fey helped the Golden Lions to their second consecutive ECC title with nine saves in the virtual championship game as Dowling upset C. W. Post. She added a caused turnover and two ground balls; her final save came as the Pioneers looked to take the lead late in the game; her save allowed the Golden Lions to get possession and set up for the eventual game-winner.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Julie Faulk, Bloomsburg

Faulk powered the Huskies to the PSAC title, storming through three higher seeds en route to the championship. She had 11 goals and added nine assists on the week, and snared five draw controls as BU became the first team seeded sixth to win the title.


Rookie of the Week: Brianna Lancetta, Holy Family


Lancetta helped the Tigers win their first-ever CACC title with a pair of victories in the tournament. She posted six goals on the weekend and added four ground balls and a pair of draw controls.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Rachael Waldman, Elizabethtown

Waldman backstopped the Blue Jays to the Commonwealth title, making 20 saves while allowing only 12 goals in the two games on the weekend. In the title game against No. 7 Messiah, the junior posted 12 saves and picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Taylor Hughes, St. John Fisher

Hughes led the Cardinals to the Empire 8 title, scoring 11 goals in two games. She added a pair of assists in the win over Stevens, and snared three draw controls and a ground ball as SJFC advanced to the NCAA tournament.


Rookie of the Week: Kelsey MacDonald, Castleton State

MacDonald was clutch for the Spartans over the week, making 26 saves while allowing only 20 goals. In the win over in-state rival Norwich, she made three saves over the final 7:28 of regulation to keep the Cadets from taking the lead; in overtime she made a key save that led to the game-winner. In the game to advance to the NCAA tournament, the rookie made 15 saves en route to the tournament berth.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Taylor Thornton, Northwestern

Thornton, a junior, continued to impress on both ends of the field in a pair of Northwestern wins over top-10 opponents last week. Against No. 6 Notre Dame, Thornton led NU with five ground balls and three caused turnovers while adding one goal on the offensive end. She followed that with two goals, three caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls against No. 9 Virginia.


Offensive Player of the Week: Jess Drummond, Oregon

Drummond helped the Ducks win the MPSF title with a dominating weekend, scoring eight goals and adding an assist as Oregono went 2-0. Drummond scored six goals in the win over California to power the Ducks to the final. In the win over Stanford, Drummond scored Oregon's final two goals, each time answering a Cardinal goal to give the Ducks some breathing room.


Rookie of the Week: Katie Donohoe, Monmouth

Donohoe backstopped the Hawks to the NEC title, making 20 saves and allowing a tournament-record low seven goals. She helped Monmouth shut out Quinnipiac in the second half of the semifinal before holding Mount St. Mary's scoreless over a 54-minute period in the final.

DIVISION II - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Kelly Fucillo, Le Moyne

Fucillo backstopped the Dolphins to the NE-10 regular season title with 17 saves in a 2-0 week while allowing only nine goals.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Tori Dugan, West Chester

Dugan repeated the honor from last week as WCUPA went 2-0 that included a win over C. W. Post in which Dugan snared 14 draw controls and added three goals and two assists. In a win over Kutztown, she had nine draw controls and four goals and an assist.


Rookie of the Week: Gianna Lombardi, Regis


Lombardi helped the Rangers to a huge upset over No. 2 and previously undefeated Rollins, making 13 saves, holding the Tars off the scoreboard for the final 11:36 of the game. She made 25 saves in the two games.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Danielle Puzio, Morrisville

Puzio made 26 saves en route to the NAC West title, making 13 saves in both the semifinal and the final. In the championship win over Keuka, Puzio made a pair of saves in the sudden-victory sessions to preserve the chance for the victory.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Allie Horwitz, Amherst

Horwitz recorded six goals on nine shots and assisted on three other tallies during a 2-0 week for the Lord Jeffs. On Wednesday at Trinity, Horwitz had two goals and three assists, scoring the game-winning goal on a free-position attempt with 3:47 left in regulation, as Amherst won 7-6 and snapped the Bantams’ 27-game regular season unbeaten streak. Horwitz continued to stay hot on Saturday against Bowdoin in the NESCAC quarterfinals, tallying four goals in a 9-7 victory.


Rookie of the Week: Ellie Getchell, Springfield


Getchell was instrumental in Springfield's NEWMAC title as the Pride held both Babson and Wheaton to six goals each. She had two caused turnovers and a draw control in the win over Babson after snaring four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the win over Wheaton in the semifinals.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Ellie Hilling, Notre Dame

The Irish goalkeeper made 29 saves on the week as Notre Dame went 2-0, including a pair of victories over ranked teams. In the win over Georgetown, Hilling made a stop in overtime, helping ND go on to the victory. She added 16 ground balls between the two triumphs.



Offensive Player of the Week: Karri Ellen Johnson, Maryland

Johnson helped the Terrapins to the ACC title with a 12-point, 12-draw control weekend. She had four goals and four draw controls in the upset of North Carolina on Monday night, capping off an impressive weekend for the Terps to clinch the AQ from the conference.


Rookie of the Week: Nora Barry, Florida

Barry scored a goal, an assist, a ground ball and two draw controls and helped the Gators go a perfect 13-for-13 on clears as Florida upset Northwestern 8-7 on the road.  After the 'Cats took a 7-6 lead, Barry made a big play 57 seconds later, getting open and driving the ball in to tie the score at seven and give the Gators the opportunity to win.

DIVISION II - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Emily Cilla, Lock Haven

Cilla helped the Lady Eagles to a 3-0 week that included the road win over archrival West Chester in which LHUP held the Golden Rams to one goal in the second half. Cilla recorded four caused turnovers and four ground balls in the game, part of her 8 gbs and 8 cts on the week. At the other end of the field, she also pulled down 11 draw controls and added eight points on a 7+1 week.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Tori Dugan, West Chester

Dugan was a monster in the draw circle and in the offensive end this week as the Golden Rams went 2-1. She snared 23 draw controls and posted 18 points on 13 goals and five assists as WCU defeated previously undefeated and then-No. 1 Le Moyne to start the week before bowing to Lock Haven and rebounding with a win over IUP.


Rookie of the Week: Sierra Perrella, Regis


Perrella recorded seven ground balls and caused six turnovers, both team highs in the Rangers 18-17 and 13-8 victories last weekend.  She tallied a career-high five caused turnovers on Sunday against Colorado Mesa.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Maddie Coleman, Gettysburg

Coleman was steadfast in between the pipes in three victories last week. She did not allow more than four goals in any contest and finished with a 3.72 GAA and .679 save percentage. Coleman made nine saves in a 15-4 victory over No. 7 Franklin & Marshall College on April 18 before combining for 10 stops in wins against Bryn Mawr College and No. 15 Washington and Lee University over the weekend. She also led the Bullets with 10 ground balls for the week.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Claire Donegan, Colby

Donegan had two goals and four assists to help the eighth-ranked Mules to an 8-6 win at sixth-ranked Middlebury. She also had two goals for Colby in a 10-9 win at home over 12th-ranked Bowdoin College on Wednesday night. With Colby trailing 4-1 at halftime against Middlebury, Donegan had two goals and two assists as the Mules went on a 5-0 scoring run to take a 6-4 lead. The Panthers cut the lead to 6-5, but Donegan had two more assists on Colby goals in the final eight minutes of play. Donegan, a tri-captain for the Mules, also had big goals in the win against rival Bowdoin. Colby trailed by one goal both times when Donegan scored. The second goal sparked a three-goal scoring run to put the Mules up for good.


Rookie of the Week: Shannon Connerty, Plymouth State


Connerty led the PSU offense in the two LEC victories last week, scoring eight goals and assisting on three others.  She tallied a game-high eight points on six goals and two assists in Tuesday's win over Keene State, and she added two goals and one assist in Saturday's victory at Western Conn..  She also picked up five ground balls at WestConn and grabbed two draw controls in each game.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kerri Harrington, Northwestern

Issued the challenge of faceguarding the opposition's top scorer against both No. 3 North Carolina and No. 19 Johns Hopkins this weekend, sophomore defender Harrington did it to perfection to help her teammate win by narrow margins of 8-7 and 16-12, respectively. Against the Tar Heels, Harrington made her second career start -- and her first since last year's NCAA championship game -- and effectively took UNC's Laura Zimmerman out of the game, holding Zimmerman without a shot or a point and helping coax her into four turnovers. On Sunday, with JHU rallying to tie the score at 11 early in the second half, Harrington entered the game for the first time and held the Jays' leading scorer, Taylor D'Amore, without a point the rest of the way.



Offensive Player of the Week: Michelle Tumolo, Syracuse

Tumolo registered a career-high eight points in each of the Orange’s victories against No. 10 Dartmouth and No. 14 Georgetown. The junior attacker recorded three goals and a career-best five assists versus both the Big Green and the Hoyas as SU extended its winning streak to nine games. .


Rookie of the Week: Maggie McCormick, Penn State

McCormick had a huge day for the Nittany Lions as she helped Penn State upset conference rival and tenth-ranked Ohio State on the road. The freshman had a game-high eight points, off four goals and four assists. Down 4-2 in the first half, McCormick singlehandedly swung momentum in Penn State’s favor, scoring three straight goals in the span of 1:55. She also netted a key goal late in the game, breaking an 11-11 tie with 15-plus minutes remaining. McCormick tied for the team lead with three draw controls and also contributed one ground ball and one caused turnover.

DIVISION II - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Ally Dorman, Bentley

Dorman had a 3-0 week and was in net for all but 30 minutes during the three games. She made 35 total saves and had a .636 save per- centage and a 7.55 GAA. Dorman made nine saves in a 3OT win over Merrimack and 17 in a victory over Queens (N.Y.) on Sunday.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Gina Mansi, Holy Family

Mansi helped the Tigers upset Georgian Court on the road with a five-goal, one-assist day. She added two draw controls and two caused turnovers as well as a ground ball in the victory. Mansi followed that up with a four-goal performance in the win over Philadelphia.


Rookie of the Week: Meagan Emery, Grand Valley State


Emery helped the Lakers to a 2-0 week that included their first-ever overtime victory; she finished the week with four goals, four assists, six ground balls, four draw controls and a caused turnover.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Lamia Harik, Amherst

Harik posted a .667 save percentage during a key 2-0 week in NESCAC play for the Lord Jeffs heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. She racked up 18 saves, holding opponents to a 2-for-9 showing on free position shots, and scooped up eight ground balls. After making five stops in a 12-5 win over Con- necticut College on Tuesday, Harik held Tufts scoreless in the first half (six saves) as part of a 13-save effort in a 12-4 victory over the Jumbos.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Katie Bollhorst, Salisbury

With the Sea Gulls facing a one-goal deficit late in the game, Bollhorst was a part of the final three goals as Salisbury came from behind to defeat TCNJ on the road. She assisted a pair of goals before scoring an insurance marker as SU won 14-12. Earlier in the week she had five assists in the win over Marymount and closed the week with a goal and two assists against Stevenson.


Rookie of the Week: Emily McGrail, Union


McGrail was key for the Dutchwomen as they went 2-0 on the week. She helped Union upset RPI with a four-goal game, scoring both the tying and winning goals 70 seconds apart in the final three minutes of the contest. She added two ground balls and a caused turnover. In the overtime win over Skidmore, the rookie scored a goal and scooped up a game-high six ground balls and added two caused turnovers.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Brianne LoManto, Northwestern

LoManto helped shut down to ranked opponents last week as the Wildcats topped No. 12 Penn State and No. 8 Penn on the road. LoManto especially shined against the Nittany Lions, making six first-half saves with the game still in doubt and finishing with eight for the game, her second straight eight-save performance. She also kept PSU to a 2-for-7 success rate on 8-meter attempts. LoManto followed that with five saves against the Quakers Sunday.


Offensive Player of the Week: Jessica Nonn, Virginia Tech

Nonn put the Hokies on her back and she delivered VT the win, scoring the final three goals of the game, including the OT game-winner, and also snared two of the final three draws in regulation.


Rookie of the Week: Kaliah Kempney, Syracuse

Kempney came up big for the Orange on the week as the rookie scored five goals and added seven draw controls in the win over Notre Dame on the road before adding a pair of goals and three draw controls in the victory over Rutgers

Defensive Player of the Week: Dominique Mosca, C. W. Post

Mosca helped the Pioneers go 2-0 this week, making 27 saves and allowing only 18 goals. She added three ground balls in the two victories for C. W. Post.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Carolyn Kynoch, Bentley

Kynoch scored six goals in two games, including a team-high four in win over No. 7 New Haven on Saturday. She also added seven draw controls and five caused turnovers during the week.


Rookie of the Week:
Lindsey Palmer, Lindenwood

Palmer helped the Lions go 2-0, posting 11 points on six goals and five assists combined in wins over Fort Lewis and Lees-McRae.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Liza Mettler, Guilford

Mettler came up big for the Quakers as they upset Lynchburg behind her 10 saves. She also pitched a shutout against Hollins, giving her an average of 5.00 GAA and a save percentage of 56.5%.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Cassie Diplock, St. Joseph's College of Maine

Diplock powered the Monks to three wins on the week, starting with an overtime victory over Emmanuel in which she notched eight goals, including all three in overtime, for the come-from-behind victory. She added six goals and an assist, along with four ground balls and a draw control, in a win over Regis and added a goal in the win over St. Joseph.


Rookie of the Week: Catherine Fowler, Middlebury


Fowler helped the Panthers remain undefeated on the season with a hat trick in the win over Amherst. She added a ground ball and a caused turnover. In the win over Hamilton earlier in the week, she had three draw controls, three ground balls, and a goal as the Panthers shut out the Continentals in the second half.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Sloan Serpe, North Carolina

Serpe marked the Blue Devils leading scorer and held her scoreless and without a shot on the night. Serpe caused three turnovers and gathered two ground balls against Duke. Two days later against Virginia Tech, Serpe had a draw control and a caused turnover in the Tar Heels' 15-4 win.


Offensive Player of the Week: Jessi Steinberg, Cornell

Steinberg powered the Big Red to the upset of Princeton on the road, as her fourth goal of the game was the overtime game-winner. She added an assist and snared three draw controls as Cornell won a key conference game.

Rookie of the Week: Annie Thomas, Loyola

Thomas was instrumental in the Greyhounds' upset of Notre Dame as Loyola knocked the Irish from the ranks of the unbeaten. She opened the week with a three-point game in the Big East win over Cincinnati before notching four goals and an assist in the win over ND. She had three goals and an assist in the pivotal nine-goal run that iced the game for the Greyhounds in the second half.

DIVISION II - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Kelsey Fucillo, Le Moyne

Fucillo posted a 4.62 goals against average and 15 saves in No. 1 Le Moyne’s 3-0 week. She made four saves, against one goal, in 35:42 be- tween the pipes in an 18-4 win over Assumption on Tuesday. She turned away eight shots in an 8-7 win over No. 11 Merrimack on Saturday and capped the week with three saves in a 12-4 victory over No. 8 Bentley on Sunday.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Alexis Lodovici, IUP

Lodovici led IUP to a 3-0 week, including the key 18-17 overtime win over Bloomsburg on Friday. In that game, Lodovici totaled eight points on four goals and four assists, including the game-winner with 13.3 seconds left in overtime.She came back the next day against East Stroudsburg and scored a goal with four assists in limited playing time as the Crimson Hawks improved to 4-0 in the PSAC with an 18-9 win. Earlier in the week she put up four goals and added five assists in a 24-2 blowout win over Notre Dame College.


Rookie of the Week:
Mary Minick, Lenoir-Rhyne

Minick played a key role in the upset of Florida Southern, pumping in seven goals and adding an assist as the Bears defeated the Mocs on the road. She added two ground balls and a caused turnover in the win.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Allie Arnal, RPI

Arnal helped RPI go 2-0 this week behind 23 saves. Playing in all 120:00 minutes, she boasted an 8.00 GAA with a .590 save percentage. Her week was highlighted by a nine save effort in a 14-4 win at the University of Rochester.  Arnal also stopped 14 shots in a 13-12 come-from-behind win at RIT the next day as the Engineers moved to 2-0 in conference play.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Mary Swarthout, Catholic

Swarthout powered CUA to a 2-0 week, totaling 11 goals, 7 assists, 18 draw controls, 9 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers. She began her week with a season-high eight goals in CUA's 20-18 overtime win at Messiah. Swarthout also handed out two assists, won nine draw controls, picked up a trio of ground balls and caused three turnovers. On Saturday, Swarthout scored three times, dished out five assists, scooped up six GBs, won nine draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers in the Cardinals' 19-10 win over Drew in the conference opener.


Rookie of the Week: Erin Ward, St. John Fisher


Ward helped the Cardinals go 3-0 on the week, notching nine goals and five assists in the three games. She a hat trick in the win over William Smith before posting two goals and an assist in the win over Geneseo. Both goals game in a 50-second span right after Geneseo tied the game, giving the Cardinals breathing room. She finished the week with a seven-point performance against Elmira.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Jamie Reeg, Florida

Reeg played two solid games last week, holding her marks to just one assist and no goals, while earning five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Reeg covered No. 10 Dartmouth's second-leading scorer, holding her to just two shots on goal and no points, adding a ground ball and a draw control. She then marked the nation's second-leading scorer at No. 15 Ohio State, keeping her to just one assist and no shots on goal, while tallying four ground balls and two caused turnovers.


Offensive Player of the Week: Josie Owen, Virginia

Owen helped power the Cavaliers to a pair of wins on the week, notching 12 points on eight goals and four assists. She added eight draw controls in the two victories. In the victory over James Madison, Owen set a career high with six goals and added an assist. Owen was a part of five of Virginia's nine second-half goals at Duke, including an assist on the game-winner.


Rookie of the Week: Annie Thomas, Loyola

Fucillo made 13 saves in the win over Adelphi, helping the Dolphins stop the Panthers' 30-game win streak. She added three ground balls in the victory as Le Moyne was able to avenge three losses from 2011 to Adelphi.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Cori Geiger, Bentley

Geiger racked up 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in the three games, all team-highs. She had five goals and two assists in a 20-13 win over So. New Hampshire last Wednesday, her fourth career game with five goals. On Friday, she helped the Falcons to a 15-8 victory at No. 14 Molloy with a hat trick. She netted her 100th career goal in that game. In Sunday's 13-8 win at No. 13 Dowling, Geiger had three goals and three assists.


Rookie of the Week:
Mary Minick, Lenoir-Rhyne

Minick played a key role in the upset of Florida Southern, pumping in seven goals and adding an assist as the Bears defeated the Mocs on the road. She added two ground balls and a caused turnover in the win.

Bollhorst was a part of more than half of the Sea Gulls' goals on the week as Salisbury won a pair of games against ranked teams. She had a 3-goal, 4-assist game in the win over Bowdoin before scoring twice and adding three assists in the win over Franklin & Marshall.

Ritter helped the Panthers to a 3-0 week, starting with a pair of goals and four ground balls in the win over Skidmore. She added a goal and an assist and a draw control in the win over Wesleyan before posting five points (2+3) and a draw control and a ground ball in the win over Tufts, a ranked conference rival.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kristen Giovanniello, Dartmouth

Giovanniello helped the Big Green to a 2-0 record on the week. She stopped a career-high 17 shots while allowing only nine goals while picking up seven ground balls in the victory. Later in the week, she made nine saves in a double-overtime upset of Duke. A number of her saves came late in regulation; the sophomore added a game-high four ground balls. 


Offensive Player of the Week: Tatum Coffey, Penn State

Coffey nearly accounted for 50 percent of Penn State’s offense last week, scoring a total of 11 goals in leading the Nittany Lions to two road wins. In an 11-9 victory over Hofstra, Coffey netted five goals, including going 3-for-3 on free position attempts. In PSU’s 12-11 come-from-behind upset of No. 8 Vanderbilt, Coffey scored six goals, including the game winner in ot. She also combined to tally six draw controls, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers for the week.


Rookie of the Week: Annie Woehling, Princeton

Woehling came up huge for the Tigers, posting 13 saves while allowing only seven goals to the Cavaliers in the upset. The rookie added five ground balls in the game and made two saves in the final minutes when the 'Hoos had pulled within two.

De Lisle backstopped the Tars to three wins, all over ranked teams as Rollins remains undefeated on the season. She made 19 saves on the week and added seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. In the overtime game against Stonehill, she made a save to preserve the one-goal lead and then caused a turnover late to keep the lead.

Oor helped the Saints to a 3-0 week that included wins over two ranked teams. She had at least three points in each game and finished the week with four goals and 10 assists, including a 2-goal, 4-assist game against co-#4 Lock Haven.

Daly helped the Hawks to the upset of Molloy, pumping in six goals and adding an assist in the victory. Later in the week she added a hat trick in the victory over AIC.

Defensive Player of the Week: Allie Arnal, RPI

Arnal boasted a 6.00 goals against average, going 2-0 last week for the Engineers. She also had a .600 save percentage while stopping 18 shots over 120:00 minutes. Arnal also scooped up three ground balls.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Martha Marich, Pomona Pitzer

Marich earned the honor after leading Pomona-Pitzer to a 4-0 week, with four wins in five days by a combined six goals. The senior began the busy week with seven goals in a 19-16 win over Puget Sound on Wednesday, and then ended it with six goals on Sunday, including the game-winner with 2.3 seconds left, in an 11-10 win over Pacific (Ore.). She also had five goals, including the game-winner to break a 10-10 tie, in an 11-10 win in the rematch with Puget Sound in Tacoma on Saturday.


Rookie of the Week: Cara Mulligan, Washington & Lee


Mulligan helped the Generals go 2-0 last week, making 16 saves and allowing only 10 goals. She added six ground balls in the effort.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kellye Gallagher, Loyola

Gallagher picked up the honors amassing 12 ground balls and eight caused turnovers last week. Against Penn State, the senior had a game-high five ground balls and caused a game-high five turnovers, including causing a turnover at the beginning of overtime that set the Greyhounds up for the game-winning goal. Gallagher also had a season-high seven ground balls in a 12-11 win over crosstown rival UMBC on March


Offensive Player of the Week: Erin Brennan, Penn

Against Rutgers on Wednesday, Brennan recorded nine total points as the Quakers downed the Scarlet Knights, 15-7. Brennan picked up seven assists in the win, including six in second half, factoring in on all but one of Penn's second-half tallies. In the come-from-behind victory over Harvard, Brennan had three goals, including the first in the overtime session to stake the Quakers to the lead.



Rookie of the Week: KC Emerson, Johns Hopkins

Emerson made her first start for the Blue Jays and stopped six shots while allowing just four goals as Hopkins beat 19th-ranked Towson, 5-4, at Homewood Wednesday night. Emerson made four of her saves in the second half, including three in the final 11:23, with Hopkins leading 5-4. One of her four second half saves came on a Towson on a fast-break as she went in all alone on Emerson, but the freshman was up to the task.

Danica Cutshall, Regis

Cutshall helped the Rangers to a 2-0 week that included an upset of Pfeiffer on the road in which she notched the game-winning assist. She added a school record 12 draw controls in the game that helped Regis to the victory. Later in the week she added nine draw controls as the Rangers defeated conference rival Adams State.

DKania helped the Griffins to a 3-0 week, notching 10 points on 4 goals and 6 assists. She helped Seton Hill come from behind to defeat Bloomsburg with a 1+2 day.

Lauren Feusahrens, Salisbury

Feusahrens powered the Sea Gulls to a pair of wins over ranked teams, notching four goals and two assists in each game. Salisbury defeated Cortland 12-11 as Feusahrens' six points helped the Sea Gulls build up a four-goal lead in the first half of play; against W&L she had three goals in the first half as Salisbury leapt out to a 9-1 lead.


Rookie of the Week: Kirsten Kilburn, Mount Holyoke


Kilburn led the Lyons to two victories, notching a hat trick in the win over Westfield State before putting in four goals in the win over Roger Williams. She had the game-winner in the victory over RWU and added eight draw controls in the triumph.

Defensive Player of the Week: Ellie Hilling, Notre Dame

Hilling put together a career-high 16-save afternoon against the previously unbeaten Buckeyes to help limit a potent Ohio State attack to only seven goals in a 16-7 triumph for the Irish. Hilling also led the Irish in ground balls on the day with six and caused two turnovers.


Offensive Player of the Week: Shannon Smith, Northwestern

Smith catapulted Northwestern to a tough 11-9 overtime road victory against Syracuse on the road, scoring five goals for the second straight game and adding one assist. Smith was key in NU's comeback from a 6-2 first-half deficit, scoring three goals in less than four minutes midway through the second half to restore an NU advantage. She also scored Northwestern's second overtime goal to ice the win. Smith then tallied one goal in a 15-2 win over Oregon on Saturday.



Rookie of the Week: Maggie McCormick, Penn State

McCormick recorded a game-high six points (2g, 4a) in leading No. 19 Penn State to a commanding 14-7 victory over Virginia. The freshman scored two goals, both in the second half, helping the Nittany Lions fend off a comeback attempt by the Cavaliers. McCormick recorded a season-high four assists versus UVa, connecting with teammate Molly Fernandez for three goals.

Rachel Hebbard, Pfeiffer

Hebberd led the Lady Falcons to a perfect 2-0 week behind her seven goals, one assist, four groundballs and 11 draw controls. Against Gannon, Hebberd put home four goals with an assist including the insurance goal needed in a 14-13 victory. The sophomore also picked up a groundball while adding five draw controls in the win. In the Grand Valley State game, Hebberd added three more tallies with three groundballs, six draw controls and a caused turnover.


Rookie of the Week:
Marissa Daly, Saint Anselm

Daly amassed 12 points on 10 goals and a pair of assists, in addition to tallying four groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. After recording her first collegiate point with an assist at third-ranked C.W. Post, Daly busted out with six goals to help lead the Hawks to a 13-11 upset victory at No. 8 Dowling. Daly wrapped the weekend with four goals and an assist at Queens.

Defensive Player of the Week: Ashley Cross, Shenandoah

Cross had 21 total saves as the Hornets went 3-0 on the week, defeating Frostburg, 14-5, Methodist, 18-7, and Guilford, 8-7. She had a total of six groundballs and caused one turnover in those three victories.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Erica Crabtree, Neumann

Crabtree had a big opening weekend, posting 16 points on 12 goals and four assists. In Neumann's 16-7 season opening win at Rutgers-Camden, the junior had four goals and two assists. In a 15-11 win over Arcadia two days later, Crabtree scored seven goals. She then had a goal and two assists as Neumann finished the week 3-0 in an 11-10 win over Wesley.


Rookie of the Week: Gina Newsome, Univ. of New England


Newsome, a first-year attacker, racked up 12 points in two games last week, going for six goals and six assists. She opened her collegiate career with a two-goal, five-assist performance in a 15-3 win over Thomas -- with all five assists coming in the first half. Then during a 15-14 victory at Wellesley, Newsome scored all four of her markers to help kick off a 9-4 second-half run that turned an 8-5 deficit into a 14-12 lead.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kim Kolarik, Virginia

The Cavaliers' goalie came up big for them, making 18 saves while allowing only 16 goals on the week in a pair of close wins. She added nine ground balls and caused two turnovers as Virginia improved to 3-0.


Offensive Player of the Week: Laura Zimmerman, North Carolina

Zimmerman was impactful for the Tar Heels in two victories, scoring six draw controls and five ground balls to go along with six goals and three assists as UNC defeated a pair of ranked teams.



Rookie of the Week: Taylor Trimble, Duke

After Duke saw its 5-0 lead turn into a 7-5 deficit, Trimble netted two goals to tie the game, sparking a 5-0 run by the Blue Devils to retake control of the game against Maryland. The rookie added a ground ball and a caused turnover in the game.

Asper helped the Mocs to a huge win in their first season, starting with the opening goal in the victory over Mercyhurst as Florida Southern never looked back in the game. She ended the contest with a pair of goals, two caused turnovers, two draw controls, and three ground balls.

Kargle tied an NCAA record with 14 goals in the win over Berry; the Vikings needed all of them in a double-overtime victory. She finished the week with 25 goals and two assists as Augustana went 3-0.

Dawson burst onto the collegiate scene with nine goals and an assist as the Red Devils upset Elizabethtown and defeated St. Mary's on the week. She added three ground balls and three draw controls for Dickinson.

Defensive Player of the Week: Taylor Thornton, Northwestern

Thornton was a key part of the Northwestern success over the weekend as the 'Cats defeated Duke on the road. She had four ground balls and two draw controls and two caused turnovers as NU held the Blue Devils  to their lowest offensive output of the season, 11 goals under their average.


Offensive Player of the Week: Maggie Tamasitis, Notre Dame

Tamasitis started the year with a bang, notching seven points on one goal and six assists to help the Irish upset Stanford in the season opener. She added a pair of ground balls and was a part of six of ND's 12 first-half goals.



Rookie of the Week: Courtney Swan, Virginia

Swan played a significant role in the Cavaliers' upset of the Greyhounds in the season opener, not only notching the opening goal of the game to set the tone, but also securing ground balls, draw controls, and caused turnovers to help pace Virginia throughout the game.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kellye Gallagher, Loyola

Gallagher caused five UMass turnovers, helping the Greyhounds hold the Minutemen to seven goals in a 14-7 victory in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Gallagher and the rest of the defense held Massachusetts to eight goals below their season average, allowing only 25 shots, including only eight in the first half. Gallagher also scooped up five ground balls.

Offensive Player of the Week: Shannon Smith, Northwestern

Shannon Smith continued her hot postseason scoring streak with a third consecutive five-goal game in the win over Boston College. She added two assists as the Wildcats advanced to the second round; Smith had a hand in five NU's first seven goals. When the Eagles pulled within two late in the game, Smith scored and then assisted 40 seconds later to push the margin back to four.

Rookie of the Week: Anna Berman, Albany

Berman helped the Great Danes advance to the second round with a nine-save, four-ground ball performance. The rookie held Dartmouth to seven goals in the contest as Albany rallied for the 10-7 victory.

Offensive Player of the Week: Kathleen Notos, TCNJ

With the Lions facing a five-goal deficit in the second half on the road against F&M, Notos won the next two draws and scored three goals in a 7-0 spurt that put TCNJ ahead for good. On the week, she notched 12 goals and added 11 draw controls in a 3-0 week as the Lions remained undefeated and booked a trip to the NCAA semifinals.

Rookie of the Week: Kelsey Markiewicz, Gettysburg

Markiewicz helped the Bullets advance to the NCAA semifinals in her first season, notching a hat trick in the regional final against Salisbury, her second consecutive game with three goals. Two of those goals came in a critical 7-0 run that spanned both halves that pushed the Bullets from a 6-2 deficit to a 9-6 lead that they did not relinquish. Markiewicz had eight goals and an assist to go along with six draw controls and a caused turnover to help the cause.

Defensive Player of the Week: Erin Tochihara, Princeton

Tochihara backstopped the Tigers to the Ivy League title, making 19 saves en route to the title. One of them came at the end of regulation in the semifinal against top seed Penn, preserving the tie as Princeton went on to win in overtime. Tochihara added three ground balls,  helping the Tigers play their way into the NCAA tournament. 

Offensive Player of the Week: Shannon Smith, Northwestern

Smith powered the Wildcats to the ALC title this weekend, scoring five goals in each game. She added three assists and three draw controls as the second-seeded 'Cats got revenge for the loss to Florida with a 10-9 victory in the championships. With NU facing a three-goal deficit with 13:17 to play, Smith scored two straight goals and capped off the 5-0 run with a third marker, putting the Wildcats up 10-8 in the span of 11 minutes. She then won the next draw to help take time away as NU held on for the victory.

Rookie of the Week: Alyssa Leonard, Northwestern

Leonard played a crucial role in the Wildcats' victory in the title game, winning nine draws as NU defeated Florida 10-9. Leonard won four consecutive draws after UF went up 8-5, part of a 5-0 run for the Wildcats as Northwestern took control of the game with the late run.

Goldstein continued her hot play in the cage as the Golden Lions defeated C. W. Post for the ECC title, making 11 saves in a 15-14 triumph in sudden-victory overtime. She had 14 saves on the week as Dowling won their first-ever ECC title and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.


Offensive Player of the Week: Erica Devito, Adelphi

Devito helped the Panthers maintain their perfect season with a pair of wins in the Northeast-10 tournament, including a 17-11 win over No. 2 Le Moyne in which she scored seven goals. Her six-goal effort in the semifinal win over No. 10 Merrimack helped send the Panthers into the title game.


Rookie of the Week: Elyse DeLisle, Rollins

DeLisle was up to the challenge this week, holding No. 3 Limestone to nine goals, making nine saves in the process. Four of those saves came after the Saints pulled within one late in the second half; the rookie had six saves in the second half while allowing only three goals.

Trish Timony, Gwynedd Mercy

Timony led the Griffins to the NCAA tournament with an outstanding performance on the weekend, making 42 saves in two games while allowing only 26 goals. She started with a 20-save performance in the win over Cabrini in the semifinal, and she followed that up with 22 saves in the championship game against Marywood.

Offensive Player of the Week: Holly Davis, Endicott

Davis got the weekend started with the game-winner with seven ticks on the clock to send the Gulls to the title game, her third goal of the contest. She then scored six goals and added an assist as Endicott upset WNEC on the road, 10-4.

Rookie of the Week: Alex van Horn, Washington & Lee

Van Horn was a monster in the draw circle this week, winning 23 draws, including 18 in the ODAC title game against Roanoke. In the semifinal game she won five of the 17 draws in the contest, and followed that up with 18 of the 36.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kristen Giovanniello, Dartmouth


Giovanniello was a brick wall for the Big Green this week, stopping 61.5% of the shots she faced as Dartmouth defeated a pair of ranked teams, including top-ranked Maryland. She started the weekend off with a 13-save, five-ground ball performance in the defeat of Ivy-rival Harvard that made Dartmouth the No. 2 seed in the Ivy. Then on Sunday, she stonewalled Maryland with an 11-save performance that knocked the No. 1 Terrapins from the ranks of the unbeaten, ending a 28-game winning streak.

Offensive Player of the Week: Jasmine DePompeo, Navy

DePompeo powered Navy to the Patriot League title, notching six goals and adding seven assists as the Mids upset second-seeded Lehigh and top-seeded Colgate to win the right to play in the AQ game. She added two draw controls and four ground balls on the weekend.

Rookie of the Week: Christie Dougherty, High Point

Dougherty helped the Panthers win their conference tournament in their first year of existence, scoring the game-winner in overtime. Her third goal of the game, complimented by an assist and three draw controls, catapulted High Point to the upset.

DIVISION II -

Defensive Player of the Week: Rachael Goldstein, Dowling

Goldstein was stunning in the upset of Stonehill, making 17 saves, including 11 in the second half, as the Golden Lions defeated the Skyhawks 17-8. Goldstein allowed only four goals in each half as Dowling won a crucial north region contest.


Offensive Player of the Week: Jessica Pandolf, Lock Haven

Pandolf was crucial to the Lady Eagles' conference title, snaring three draw controls in the first half of the semifinal to help LHUP race out to a 7-4 lead. When ESU closed within two, Pandolf notched a goal and an assist and Lock Haven advanced to the final. In the title game, Pandolf notched a hat trick and added four draw controls as The Haven won the PSAC championship.


Rookie of the Week: Jackie Sileo, C. W. Post

Sileo repeated her honor from last week after exploding for eight points on two goals and six assists in the win over Merrimack. She added three draw controls and four ground balls to keep the Pioneers in the mix.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week:
Tara Connolly, Bowdoin

Connolly headlined a Polar Bear defensive unit that posted a 3.33 goals against average in a 3-0 week, holding Tufts and Amherst to season-low scoring totals. Connolly made a total of 16 saves and recorded a .615 save percentage. In a 7-6 win at Tufts on Friday, Connolly stopped seven shots. She added another six saves in Sunday’s 5-3 win over Amherst in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

Offensive Player of the Week: Carly Tschantz, Denison

The Big Red rallied for a pair of victories to win the NCAC and get the AQ to the NCAA tournament. In the semifinal against Wittenberg, Tschantz snared ten draw controls and had an assist on the game-winning goal as Denison broke an 11-11 tie in the final minute. In the final against Wooster, Tschantz was a monster in the circle, controlling nine draws. Her goal started a game-ending 4-0 run that clinched the title.

Rookie of the Week: Erin Taylor, Keene State

Taylor posted a 8.00 goals against average and a .757 save percentage in the Owls’ 4-0 week. The native of Brewster, N.Y. had double digit saves in three of the four games, including 15 stops against Westfield State.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Katie Gallagher, Maryland


Gallagher was a key part of a defense that was suffocating over the weekend, holding two top-15 teams to well below their season averages en route to the ACC title. She helped limit Boston College in an 8-5 victory before keying a defensive stand that saw the Terps engineer an 8-0 run in the final 26 minutes of the title game to clinch the ACC championship.

Offensive Player of the Week: Shannon Smith, Northwestern

Smith exploded for eleven goals, including seven in the 12-11 victory over then-No. 9 Stanford, snaring two draw controls as the Wildcats held off the Cardinal. In the earlier matchup against then-No. 11 Ohio State, Smith had four goals and added two assists and two draw controls as Northwestern defeated the Buckeyes 14-11.

Rookie of the Week: Rhiannon Coogle, Towson

Coogle powered the Tigers to the CAA regular season championship with a six-goal week that included the game-winner in the 13-12 overtime upset of William & Mary. After a two-goal game in the win over Old Dominion, the rookie led her team to the CAA title with a 4+1 day that included three ground balls and the winner in overtime.

Defensive Player of the Week: Rashelle McLellan, Limestone


McLellan held the Lady Eagles off the scoreboard for the final 32:14 of the game -- the entire second half -- as the Saints rallied from a two-goal deficit at halftime to pull out the 7-6 victory. She had 11 saves in the game, including seven in the second half of the contest as Limestone outscored Lock Haven 3-0 in the final frame.


Offensive Player of the Week: Claire Petersen, Adelphi

Petersen had an explosive week for the Panthers, notching seven goals and adding 17 assists in a 3-0 week, including an 18-8 win over archrival C. W. Post.


Rookie of the Week: Jackie Sileo, C. W. Post

Sileo powered the Pioneers to an upset of West Chester, assisting on seven goals while adding one herself in a 19-11 victory. She added three draw controls in the win; in the loss to Adelphi the rookie had a goal and a draw control.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Nicole Poli, Western New England

Poli led the Bears to the top seed in the TCCC tournament with a pair of wins over Colby-Sawyer and Endicott, which ended the Gulls' 42-game in-conference winning streak. She had ten caused turnovers and four ground balls on the week to go along with four draw controls, three goals and an assist as WNEC went 2-0.

Offensive Player of the Week: Jensen Paterson, Allegheny

Paterson led the Gators to the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with her two eight-point games, including an upset of Wooster. In that game, she notched eight goals and added four draw controls and one caused turnover and one ground ball. In the win over Wittenberg, Paterson had seven goals and an assist, again adding four draw controls along with a caused turnover and two ground balls.

Rookie of the Week: Kelsey Hoffman, Franklin & Marshall

Hoffman turned away 12 Gettysburg shots in the 9-7 win vs. the No. 6 Bullets and stopped seven more in the win over Dickinson, allowing just one goal. She posted a 70.4 save percentage on the week.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Brooke Lipinski, Johns Hopkins

Lipinski anchored a defense that allowed an average of just 9.0 goals per game in a pair of wins last week. Lipinski grabbed two draw controls and led a defense that held UMBC more than four goals below their season average in a 12-7 win on the road. She was then tagged with the job of guarding Shannon Smith in the game versus #2 Northwestern. She held Smith to just one goal and one assist, which came late in the second half, holding her four points below her average. Lipinski anchored a defense that held Northwestern nearly five goals below its season average.

Offensive Player of the Week: Kitty Cullen, Florida

Cullen played one of the best games of her career in Florida's upset of No. 2 Northwestern, scoring six goals against the Wildcats, including three of Florida's four second-half goals. It was her fourth six-goal performance of her sophomore campaign. The sophomore was 3-of-4 from the 8-meter, giving her 17 free position goals on the year. Despite being injured against Northwestern, Cullen had an assist on the afternoon in only 30 minutes of play against the No. 17 Commodores, finding Brittany Dashiell open to tie the game at 3-3 after the Gators found themselves down 0-2 early in the contest.


Rookie of the Week: Jaymie Tabor, Temple

Tabor finished the week for Temple with six goals on eight shots while recording two draw controls, one groundball and one caused turnover. The freshman attacker opened the weekend scoring four goals including the game-winner in double overtime at Duquesne. Tabor was the deciding factor in overtime scoring all three Temple goals including the clincher just 13 seconds into double overtime. The Downingtown, Pa., native followed that performance with two more goals in a 14-10 victory over St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Tabor scored half of her 12 goals this year in Temple's two wins this past weekend.

Defensive Player of the Week: Rebecca Moore, Stonehill

Moore led the Skyhawks to a key regional victory with an 11-9 win over C. W. Post in which she made six saves and added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. She added seven saves and a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover in a conference win over AIC.


Offensive Player of the Week: Cassandra Cronin, Dowling

Cronin had a monster week for the Golden Lions, starting it off with seven goals in a 16-7 upset of West Chester. She added three ground balls and a pair of draw controls in the victory. She added three goals and three assists in the conference win over Lake Erie.


Rookie of the Week: Ally Dorman, Bentley

Dorman helped the Falcons to a 2-0 week, posting a save percentage of 61.5 and a GAA of 5.73. She had 11 saves in a 12-8 upset of Merrimack while allowing only 2 goals in 45 minutes against Assumption. She added seven ground balls and three caused turnovers on the week.

Defensive Player of the Week: Taylor Phillips, Messiah

Phillips backstopped the Falcons to a pair of wins, including a
key MAC win on the road over Elizabethtown (11-9) in which she had 15 saves, seven ground balls, and a caused turnover. She added a pair of saves in a win over Misericordia.

Offensive Player of the Week: Leigh Mitchell, TCNJ


Mitchell was dominant in a come-from-behind victory on the road against Franklin & Marshall, taking part in six of TCNJ's nine goals. With the Lions facing a three-goal deficit, Mitchell scored twice and added an assist to tie the game at 4-4, part of a 5-0 run to pull ahead 6-4 at halftime. After F&M pulled within one, Mitchell scored to give the Lions some breathing room before adding an insurance goal late in the game. She added three draw controls and three ground balls in the game. Mitchell notched four goals and three assist in the NJAC victory over Rowan.


Rookie of the Week: Kelsey Daniels, WNEC

Daniels was a key contributor in the Golden Bears’ 3-0 conference week, compiling 15 points, including 12 goals and three assists. She opened the week netting four goals, chipping in an assist, and collecting a ground ball in a 17-10 win over Roger Williams, and drilled in two more goals, dished out two assists, and collected three ground balls and three draw controls in a 19-4 victory over New England College. She closed out the week with a six-goal performance, and picked up three caused turnovers, a ground ball, and a draw control in a 17-10 triumph over Curry.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kristen Giovaniello, Dartmouth

Rookie Giovanniello's play in goal helped the Big Green to victories over #17 Syracuse, 10-7, and Cornell, 13-7, this past week. With 17 saves total, the rookie saved 54.8 percent of the shots she faced on the week. She added seven ground balls as Giovanniello held opponents to 5 of 12 8-meter attempts on the week. 

Offensive Player of the Week: Alicia Krause, UMBC

Krause had a hand in UMBC’s first six goals in a 10-8 win over Stony Brook on Wednesday, helping the Retrievers rally from an early three-goal deficit. She added three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers against the Seawolves. Krause then scored five points on four goals and an assist – all the in the first half – to lead UMBC to a 14-13 win at Vermont on Saturday. She also added three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover against the Catamounts.

Rookie of the Week: Alyssa Leonard, Northwestern

Leonard played a large role in Northwestern’s ability to win draw controls and generate offense in wins over No. 15 Penn State and No. 8 Penn last week. Leonard picked up five draw controls and added a goal in a 14-5 win over the Nittany Lions, but it was against the Quakers where she truly made her presence felt. After Penn went on a four-goal run to tie things at seven, Leonard won four of the next five draw controls to fuel a decisive 6-1 run and finished with eight for the game. The freshman also scored a first-half goal to raise her season total to seven.

Defensive Player of the Week: Katie Zichelli, Lock Haven

Zichelli helped the Lady Eagles to a pair of key victories over the week as The Haven defeated two PSAC rivals by a combined score of 29-9. The senior helped limit the Gannon and Mercyhurst to a combined 41 shots while causing four turnovers and scooping up 11 ground balls.


Offensive Player of the Week: Claire Petersen, Adelphi

Petersen had another dominant week for the Panthers, leading the team to wins over American International College and #5 Stonehill with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists. She also had five ground balls and one draw control of the week. Her best game came in Adelphi's 20-14 win over Stonehill, where she had 12 points on five goals and seven assists to go along with five ground balls.


Rookie of the Week: Jackie Sileo, C. W. Post

Sileo totaled a team-high 19 points during a 3-0 week for the Pioneers, scoring four goals and registering 15 assists. She notched three assists in an 11-10 victory over New Haven, then played a major role in a comeback victory over Seton Hill, scoring two goals and matching her career high with seven assists to help CWP earn an 11-9 win. Sileo rounded out the week with two goals and five assists over Lake Erie.

Defensive Player of the Week: Mary Waller, TCNJ

Waller had an outstanding week for the top-ranked Lions, making 16 saves in the showdown against No. 2 Salisbury
. She added three ground balls as the Sea Gulls were held scoreless for the opening 14 minutes of the game. In the win over Rowan, Waller and the rest of the Lions kept the Profs off the board for the final 45 minutes of the game.

Offensive Player of the Week: Sarah Bray, Hamilton


Bray led the Continentals to a 3-0 week that included a showdown with future NESCAC rival Middlebury in which she had a hand in 7 goals (4g, 3a) as Hamilton won 16-6. She added a pair of draw controls and three ground balls in the victory. On the week that included wins over RPI and Vassar, the junior notched seven goals, seven assists, seven ground balls, 10 draw controls and four caused turnovers in total.


Rookie of the Week: Ashley Cook, Cortland

Cook totaled nine goals and four assists during a 3-0 week for the Red Dragons. She scored four times and picked up four ground balls in a 10-5 win at Brockport on Tuesday and recorded two goals and two assists in a 17-7 win versus William Smith on Thursday. She capped the week Saturday with three goals and two assists in a 13-8 win at Buffalo State.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Brianne LoManto, Northwestern

Junior goalkeeper Brianne LoManto came up huge when her team needed her most on Saturday, posting eight second-half saves and a season-high 11 for the game as the Wildcats limited No. 3 Duke to three second-half goals -- and only one in the final 19 minutes -- in a 12-10 victory. LoManto, who also faced a season-high-tying 27 shots, held the Blue Devils without a free position goal on three shot attempts after intermission.

Offensive Player of the Week: Kitty Cullen, Florida

Cullen broke the school record with seven goals against the No. 12 Nittany Lions on only nine shots on goal, while also including an assist for a career-high tying eight points on the afternoon. She set the pace for the entire game, notching a hat trick in the first 5:30 and scoring her first goal just eight seconds into the contest. Cullen also had three ground balls and a draw control against Penn State.

Rookie of the Week: Allie Phelan, Albany

The rookie was undaunted with the ball in her crosse at the end of the game, scoring the game-tying and game-winning goal as the Great Danes defeated Boston College. Phelan had a hat trick in the game and added a draw control and a ground ball in the victory. Later in the week she added two draw controls in a win over conference-rival Stony Brook.

Defensive Player of the Week: Rebecca Moore, Stonehill

Moore backstopped Stonehill to three key conference victories this week, allowing just 16 goals and making 23 saves as the Skyhawks improved to 6-0 in the NE-10 and 9-0 overall. She stopped a week-high ten shots to hold Bentley University to five goals on Tuesday, and matched it Thursday with five goals allowed to Saint Anselm College. Moore wrapped up the week by limiting the University of New Haven, who entered the game averaging 13.29 goals per game, to just six goals to earn her ninth decision in net and hold her opponents to a single-digit goal total for the eighth time in nine games.


Offensive Player of the Week: Elizabeth Fey, Adelphi

Fey helped the Panthers to a key NE-10 victory on the week, collecting ten draw controls and picking up 12 ground balls; she also added eight goals for Adelphi in the win.


Rookie of the Week: Lindsay Walbrandt, Lock Haven


Walbrandt snared four draw controls as the Lady Eagles held on to defeat Rollins; the rookie added a goal and an assist, both coming in the second half, as The Haven broke a 5-5 halftime tie with a 7-2 advantage in the second frame.

Defensive Player of the Week: Christina Tran, Lynchburg

Tran was superb as the Hornets upset Roanoke, making 15 saves as Lynchburg defeated the Maroons 15-10. She did not allow a goal in the win over Hollins as Lynchburg went 2-0 on the week.


Offensive Player of the Week: Sally Ryan, Middlebury


Ryan put up monster numbers as the Panthers went 2-1 against three ranked teams last week, scoring 13 goals and adding eight draw controls. Midd upset then-No. 9 Stevens and defeated No. 14 Catholic on the road before falling just short to No. 7 Colby in double overtime. Ryan added three caused turnovers and three ground balls during the week.


Rookie of the Week: Sarah Lux, Colby

The rookie came through in the clutch for the Mules as she scored the game-tying goal in the waning seconds of overtime before netting the game-winner with 12.3 seconds to go in the second overtime. She added a goal and an assist in the win over Husson.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Brooke Lipinski, Johns Hopkins

Lipinski was outstanding for the Blue Jays in a 2-0 week as Hopkins upset fourth-ranked Penn and later beat George Washington. Against the Quakers, she anchored a defense that held the Quakers to just five goals and 11 shots. Lipinski had four caused turnovers, grabbed a pair of ground balls and controlled a draw in the Blue Jays stunning win. Against the Colonials, she caused three turnovers and grabbed a pair of ground balls.

Offensive Player of the Week: Erin Fitzgerald, Northwestern

Sophomore Erin Fitzgerald scored eight goals in a pair of Northwestern wins vs. ranked opponents last week, including a career-best five in a 17-7 victory over No. 20 UMass. Fitzgerald opened the week with a hat trick against No. 11 Syracuse, scoring the first goal of the game and later notching a key goal with 5:22 to play in the first half that snapped a three-goal SU run that had drawn the Orange to within 6-4. On Saturday, Fitzgerald put up two of NU's first three goals, both unassisted, and finished the game 2-for-3 on free position shot attempts.


Rookie of the Week: Taylor Virden, Duke

The freshman defender totaled two caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls as well as a key second-half goal.  After Virginia tied the game at six, Duke scored a goal to take a narrow lead, but Virginia gained possession and looked to tie the game again. However, Virden came up with a key caused turnover and ground ball to thwart the UVa attack. Three minutes later, the Duke freshman scored a huge goal, her fourth of the season, to give Duke a two-goal lead and swing the momentum in the Blue Devils’ favor.

Defensive Player of the Week: Katie Zichelli, Lock Haven

Zichelli was instrumental in both wins for the Lady Eagles, posting six caused turnovers and picking up 14 ground balls in a pair of PSAC wins. The Haven defeated Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg, keeping both teams to six goals. 

Offensive Player of the Week: Shannon Hayes, West Chester

Hayes helped the Golden Rams to a 3-0 week that included a pair of top-10 wins. She had three goals and eight assists over the three games, while picking up eight ground balls, six draw controls, and adding three caused turnovers as West Chester defeated PSAC rivals Bloomsburg, Gannon, and Mercyhurst.

Rookie of the Week: Frankie Caridi, Adelphi

Caridi had a banner week, leading the Panthers to three wins, picking up her first collegiate shutout, and remaining undefeated in the college rankes. On the week Caridi made 29 saves, while playing all 180 minutes in goal, posting a goals against average of just seven. She also forced two turnovers and picked up five ground balls last week.

DIVISION III -

Defensive Player of the Week: Maggie Mae Shields, Franklin & Marshall

Shields caused two turnovers, recovered six ground balls and won eight draws in the Diplomats' two victories last week. She won six draws and intercepted a pair of passes against Salisbury.  Shields’ efforts headlined a defense that held Salisbury 7.11 goals below their season average and Washington 9.83 below its scoring average.


Offensive Player of the Week: Sarah Dick, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps


Dick had back-to-back seven goal games in wins over Buffalo State and Whittier. In the win over Buffalo State, the senior had five goals in the second half as the Athenas mounted a comeback from a two-goal deficit at halftime against the Bengals. She added seven goals and an assist in the win over Whittier, picking up a pair of caused turnovers, ground balls, and draw controls in the win.


Rookie of the Week: Caroline Buonocore, Geneseo

Buonocore scored a school-record eight goals as the Blue Knights upset William Smith 16-15. Her eighth goal came with 25 seconds left in regulation on an 8-meter shot; she also controlled three draws and added a caused turnover.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Dana Cahill, Penn State

Cahill was crucial in helping the Nittany Lions secure two wins, including an upset of Vanderbilt in which she made 13 saves. On the week, Cahill had a 54.5% save percentage, allowing only 15 goals. Cahill added seven ground balls and a caused turnover.


Offensive Player of the Week: Ashley Bruns, Florida

Bruns helped the Gators to a pair of wins this week, scoring nine goals while adding an assist, caused turnover, and draw control. She notched a hat trick in the win over Colgate before tying the school record with six goals. Her assist against Syracuse saw her pass up the opportunity to set the record.


Rookie of the Week: Sydney Mas, Vermont

Mas started the week with a four-goal, one-assist performance agaisnt Siena, along with one ground ball and three controlled draws. Mas scored a career-high six goals next time out in a win over defending MAAC Champion Marist. Against the Red Foxes, she also dished out an assist to round out a seven-point afternoon and totaled four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

DIVISION II - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Inna Hedden, Merrimack

Hedden had a monster week for the Warriors, making 34 saves while allowing only 18 goals for a 65.4% save percentage. In the upset win over Dowling, Hedden made 17 saves while picking up two ground balls as Merrimack rallied from an 3-0 deficit to start the game and then held the Golden Lions scoreless for the last 12:49 of the game.


Offensive Player of the Week: Allison Berger, Lock Haven

Berger helped the Lady Eagles to three wins on the week, including two PSAC wins and an upset of C. W. Post. The senior had fourteen assists in the three games. In the victory over the Pioneers, Berger had two goals and four assists. She started a 5-0 run that helped the Lady Eagles turn a one-goal deficit into a four-goal lead that The Haven did not relinquish.


Rookie of the Week: Kelsey Shannahan, Stonehill

Shannahan tallied four goals, six ground balls and three caused turnovers as the Skyhawks claimed a pair of non-conference victories in Winter Park, Fla. In a come-from-behind 11-9 victory over Rollins College, Shannahan caused two turnovers and scooped three ground balls, and converted a free-position shot in the second half as part of a 7-1 Stonehill run that brought the Skyhawks back from a halftime deficit to take the lead for good. She followed with her highest-scoring performance of the season as she netted three goals in a 23-5 win over Shepherd University.

Defensive Player of the Week: Jesse Wilson, William Smith

Wilson totalled 21 saves on the week, including a season-high 14 saves in the win over Messiah.

Offensive Player of the Week: Lindsay Abbott, Cortland

Abbott helped the Red Dragons to a pair of victories, notching four goals and adding three assists as Cortland swept through the south. She added 10 draw controls and five caused turnovers in the two wins.


Rookie of the Week: Katie Griffin, Colby

Griffin had two game-winning goals in the Mules' 3-0 week. She scored with 43 seconds left in the game to break a tie and lead Colby to an 11-10 win over then 12th-ranked Tufts University. Griffin had two goals against Tufts, three goals and one assist in an 18-3 win over University of Southern Maine, and one goal and one assist in another 18-3 win against Eastern Connecticut State University.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Emily Leitner, Penn

Leitner repeats her honor from last week as she was stellar in a pair of wins for the Quakers, posting a 53.8% save percentage that included wins over Hofstra and Harvard. Leitner helped hold Hofstra to four goals, posting nine saves, while in the game against Harvard the junior made seven saves, including five in the second half to help the Blue and Red rally from a three-goal deficit at halftime. 


Offensive Player of the Week: Brittney Zerhusen, Ohio State

Zerhusen erupted for five goals in both Buckeye wins this week, including the upset of then-No. 11 Notre Dame. Zerhusen added three assists and a pair of ground balls in the victory. She also scored five goals in the win over Canisius in which she totaled an assist and a draw control as well. 


Rookie of the Week: Christina Sheridan, Boston University

The rookie helped the Terriers to a pair of wins last week, starting with a nine-save performance against Dartmouth as BU held the No. 13 Big Green to just seven goals. Six saves came against 8-meter shots; she added six saves in the triple overtime win against George Mason, making a huge save at the end of the second overtime to preserve the tie.

Moore played a key role in the two Skyhawk wins last week, including a 13-save performance against Merrimack in which she kept the game tied under four minutes with four saves, setting up the winner for Stonehill.


Offensive Player of the Week: Raquel Prager, Limestone

Prager started the week with a pair of goals in a win over Shippensburg before netting four in the win over West Chester. 


Rookie of the Week: Jackie Sileo, C. W. Post

Sileo made an immediate impact in her first two games, helping the third- ranked Pioneers to a 2-0 record with seven goals and eight assists. She scored three goals to go with four assists in her first collegiate game against Georgian Court and followed with a four-goal, four-assist performance against Southern New Hampshire University.

Defensive Player of the Week: Mary Waller, TCNJ

Waller helped the Lions remain undefeated with a pair of victories, including a win over Cortland in which she had seven saves and allowed only five goals. In 117 minutes of action, she surrended only six goals on the week.

Offensive Player of the Week: Melissa Leonhard, St. John Fisher

Leonhard helped the Cardinals win a pair of games last week, including an upset of Union in which she had four goals and a pair of draw controls. She contributed three goals and four draw controls in the win over Oneonta to open the week.


Rookie of the Week: Gabby Horner, Tufts

Horner exploded onto the NESCAC scene with a five-goal performance in her opening game as a collegiate player, helping the Jumbos secure the win against Amherst. She notched the game-winner, her fifth goal of the game, and added a draw control in the key victory.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Emily Leitner, Penn

Leitner was a standout in goal for the No. 8 Quakers as she made nine saves in a 10-7 win over No. 3 North Carolina on Saturday. She was her busiest in the first half with six stops, but three point-blank saves in the final 12 minutes of the second half protected Penn’s lead as the Quakers pulled off the upset. Not content simply manning the cage, Leitner came out and forced a turnover while adding a ground ball.


Offensive Player of the Week: Shannon Smith, Northwestern

Smith was an all-around force in wins over Navy and Georgetown on the road, pacing the Wildcats with a combined 19 points, while tacking on eight draw controls and seven ground balls. Against Navy, Smith recorded hat tricks in each half on her way to a season-high six goals and three assists. She remarkably topped these numbers in the next game, a 24-15 defeat of the Hoyas, posting five goals and five assists. 


Rookie of the Week: Ariana Parker, Albany

Parker tied the program's freshman single-game scoring record with seven goals, one off the all-time mark, in a 13-8 win over No. 20 Hofstra. The freshman scored three consecutive times in a three-minute-and-22-second span to give her team a first-half lead. During a four-goal run early in the second half which broke the contest open, Parker scored twice..

Defensive Player of the Week: Kelly Fucillo, LeMoyne

Fucillo posted 20 saves and a 7.50 goals against average in leading the Dolphins to a pair of victories last week. She had nine saves in a 16-9 win over East Stroudsburg before she turned away 11 shots in a 15-6 win at Bentley.


Offensive Player of the Week: Chelsea Treat, Limestone

Treat opened the week with a game-high five goals, four ground balls and three draw controls in a 12-9 victory over No. 6 Mercyhurst on Wednesday The sophomore also played a key role in the 8-7 victory over No. 9 Gannon on Saturday. In that game she scored a game-high three goals, including two back-to-back in a key four-goal run that gave Limestone the lead for good. On the week, she finished with eight goals.


Rookie of the Week: Jessica Aguanno, Limestone

The rookie came up big for the Saints this week with a pair of wins against ranked opponents. She started the week out with a hat trick against Mercyhurst. She then played a crucial role for the Saints as they came from behind to defeat Gannon in a top-10 matchup. The freshman midfielder had a goal, an assist, a pair of ground balls and three draw controls in that victory.

Defensive Player of the Week: Chelsey Amidon, Nazareth

Amidon was a force all over the field for the Golden Flyers, causing six turnovers and picking up six ground balls as Nazareth defeated William Smith 15-14. She also added five goals and an assist as Naz defeated its in-state rival 

Offensive Player of the Week: Kaitlin Quigley, Christopher Newport

Quigley tallied 21 points on 13 goals and eight assists this week. In a 22-2 victory over USA South foe LaGrange, Quigley totaled four goals, three assists, one ground ball, one caused turnover and one draw control. In a 22-0 win over USA South rival Agnes Scott, Quigley contributed four goals, one assist, one groundball and one draw control. Finally, in a 14-11 win over Lynchburg, Quigley scored five goals, dished out two assists, collected four draw controls, grabbed two groundballs and caused one turnover.


Rookie of the Week: Sarah Mastey, Centre

Mastey helped the Colonels to a hot start in their inaugural year of lacrosse. In the win over Missouri Baptist, she recorded six goals on 10 shots, one assist, two ground-balls, and she had two caused turnovers. Two days later Centre faced conference opponent Millsaps College and the Colonels won 17-4 as Mastey posted six goals on eight shots, one assist, one ground-ball, while also tallying two caused turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week: Taylor Thornton, Northwestern

Thornton scored the game-winner in the road victory against UNC, but more importantly she held Corey Donohoe and Ally Carey to 0 goals while scooping up four ground balls, causing three turnovers, and snaring two draw controls in wins over two top-15 teams. 


Offensive Player of the Week: Katie Schwarzmann, Maryland

Schwarzmann notched five goals on the road against No. 3 Duke, and added five ground balls and three draw controls in the 18-11 victory over their conference rivals. 


Rookie of the Week: Katie Ferris, Massachusetts

Ferris' first collegiate goal was the game-winner against Boston University, and then she added five goals and a pair of caused turnovers in the win over Siena to keep UMass perfect on the season.

Rookie of the Week: Katherine Athens, Pfeiffer

Athens helped the Falcons to a pair of victories on the week, picking up four ground balls and three draw controls and caused turnovers, while notching five goals and adding an assist.

Robinson notched five goals and four assists as the Bullets defeated Mary Washington 17-6.


Rookie of the Week: Meg Hawthorne, Centre

Hawthorne got her career off to a quick start, scoring 12 games combined in her first two games, She added eight ground balls and a caused turnover as Centre starts 2-0 in program history.

DIVISION I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Kerry Stoothoff, Loyola

Stoothoff helped the Greyhounds upset the Cavaliers with an eight-save, three-ground ball performance against Virginia. She held the 'Hoos to 0-for-4 on the eight-meter. 


Offensive Player of the Week: Emilie Boeri, Stanford

Boeri helped the Cardinal to a significant home win, scoring twice and adding two assists as Stanford held off Syracuse 11-10. She added two draw controls and caused a key turnover late in the game to preserve the victory. 


Rookie of the Week: Alyssa Leonard, Northwestern

The rookie opened up her college career with a six-draw performance against No. 10 Notre Dame, helping the Wildcats dominate in the draw circle en route to a 14-11 victory on the road. She added a goal to help keep the Fighting Irish at bay.

Smith helped the Falcons open up 2011 with a solid performance in the backfield, scooping up ten ground balls and causing five turnovers while adding four draw controls in the win over Lenoir-Rhyne.


Offensive Player of the Week: Brittany Phillip, Queens

Phillip ignited the Royals to a 2-0 start, pulling down six draw controls and adding six ground balls to give Queens a number of possessions. She added eight goals and four assists to lead the Royals in scoring on the week


Rookie of the Week: Kelly Thayer, Rollins

Thayer opened up her college career with a bang, scoring five times and adding an assist in two wins for the Tars. She added a pair of ground balls in each game and also controlled a draw.

Defensive Player of the Week: Laura Grammer, Stevenson

Grammer played a key role in the Mustangs' defeat of conference rival St. Mary's, notching four ground balls and causing four turnovers en route to an 8-7 overtime victory.

Offensive Player of the Week: Emmy Mathews, Washington & Lee

Mathews played a significant role in the 18-17 overtime victory over Mary Washington on the road, scoring five times and adding two draw controls as the Generals won a key regional game.


Rookie of the Week: Alyssa Russell, Stevenson

Russell did not allow a goal during her time in the cage, holding the Seahawks off the board while making three saves. One save came at the end of regulation, and another game late in overtime as the Mustangs were able to keep the game tied.
